DO AND BE

In every language, they have different rules when it comes to these most used verbs. There’s a topic where they were included in verbs for describing activities. It’s part of their function, but they’re more than that. They are called auxiliary or helping verbs.

do, v. - a verb that supports the main verbs, nouns, or gerunds

forms: do, don’t, does, did, didn’t, doing, etc.
be, v. - a verb that supports an adjective, participles, or infinities

forms: am, ain’t, isn’t, were, weren’t, been, etc.

‘to do’ and ‘to be’ verbs can come up in different tenses?as written in the examples above. They can also mean anything based on the context. Each tense requires a specific verb to interpret the setting and time. They can even form sentences by themselves like:
"To be a being is not to be a being doing.”

In forming English questions, these verbs are visible at the front of each question. They are usually answered by either ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

Am I pronouncing the word correctly?
Was she baking cookies this morning? Do you know where this office is?
Did Maia drink my milk in the fridge?

In Spanish, it’s a bit more complicated. They use estar and ser verbs?both meaning ‘to be’, while ‘to do’ is simple hacer?but not often used. In ASL, they have different rules. These two are discarded and use broken English to illustrate a proper sentence?similar to Chinese grammar.

A few years ago, David Brooks wrote a book about the being and doing of a person, titled The Road to Character.
The resume virtues are the skills you bring to the marketplace. It is the doing or action of an individual. It can be described as either productive or impotent. The eulogy virtues are

the ones that are talked about at your funeral. It’s globally recognized as a legacy. It’s the state of being a person. It defines if a person is cheerful, easygoing, indolent, and more.
‘to be’ and ‘to do’ are just not simple words, but play a vital part in constructing a sentence or giving meaning to the context. Aside from the two, the third auxiliary verb which is also often used is ‘to have’ which is translated as haber (existence) and tener (possessive) in Spanish. English is way more confusing since it sometimes uses the same words with different meanings.

SENTENCE 01 I have eaten cake. Wait! Are they really different sentences? I can’t see any difference.
SENTENCE 02 I have eaten cake.

Seems pretty similar at first, until translated to another language.

I have eaten cake. He comido pastel.
I have eaten cake. Tengo pastel comido.

See? These sentences are way different than they look. English is sometimes deceiving, especially for new learners. What differs between these two statements, other than their elusive, unlike meanings, is their intonation or stress?which illustrates which words are combined and which are not.

SUBJECT HELPING VERB MAIN VERB ADJECTIVE OBJECT
I have eaten cake
I have eaten cake

Learning and mastering these three modal verbs can improve your English even better, understanding their forms and interpretations also affect the way to use them.
